- Had tour of the school and ended up seeing an old 'colleague' from Cwm Primary - it was nice to see a familiar face, even more so when I found out they were helping out in my classroom!
- Met my class teacher, Mrs Lloyd/Allin (she got married a few weeks ago so the children call her a mixture of these two) and saw my classroom. Compared to a lot of classrooms it is rather small, but it is manageable. There are lots of continuous provision areas and the classroom has an individual computer as well as an IWB. At least I can start planning my Opus. =P
- Had a heart attack when I found out my class consisted of Reception AND Nursery - 42 in the morning and 17 in the afternoon. Felt better when I realised that I had an army of LSAs and Adult Helpers, mwahahaha!!
- Theme of the week was colours so most people were wearing red - apart from me who wore good old brown. The theme for the whole term is pirates (hahaha, Lauren!) and there majority of the work done today was based around Knowledge and Understanding of the World: burying treasure and explaining where it was using a mixture of directional language and geographical features.
- Went out on playground duty in the morning and got told by numerous children that he looked like David Tennant - was very pleased. =)
- Took a group of children for a focussed task (same as above) - went well.
Overall I really enjoyed my very first serial day in Christchurch - even though I couldn't find the way into the school! LOL!
