In The Beginning There Was The Word...

Ok here goes...

Hey y’all! Dan here! I am a 3rd year student at Swansea Metropolitan University (previously known as the Swansea Dimstitute), doing a course in Primary Education. This is my first blog so please be nice!! =)

On this blog I will be commenting on the random occurrences of the course, including things we have learnt, things that have happened and anything else deemed worthy of space on my precious little blog! So get ready for:

There’s no time like the present, so here goes… Today has been a very good day in University. We had English this morning and learnt lots about the various rhyming patterns that can occur, and how we can incorporate poetry into the primary classroom. For most of the lecture we looked at different words and how they may rhyme, whether it be a masculine rhyme (the end of the word rhyming), a feminine rhyme (the beginning of the rhyme) or an eye rhyme (words that have the same spelling pattern but do not necessarily sound the same). The highlight of the lecture was Mark realising that lemonade, cherryade and appleade ALL rhyme with parade… simple things please simple minds…

I am currently in my ICT lecture, and (funnily enough) we are discussing how to use blogs – hence this shambles of an attempt. All the ICT specialists are now writing up their blogs frantically, so I will be linking everyone here!

Tomorrow is our first day out at schools, and most people are very nervous/excited. I am a mixture of both, because it is the first time I will be immersed within a Foundation Phase setting. I hope everything goes well – if I survive I will let you know! =)
